After 25 years in the healthcare industry and with my boys off to university, it felt like the perfect time for a change. I started my dog walking business, Moving Paws Inc., and hundreds of kilometres later, I’m absolutely loving it. Combining my love of dogs with being outdoors, it’s a perfect match!
I’ve been a dog mom for more than 20 years and am a huge supporter of animal rescue organizations. I have completed Pet First Aid through Walks ‘N’ Wags, human First Aid through the Canadian Red Cross, and puppy school with my dog, Roxie, at the Calgary Humane Society. Moving Paws Inc. is insured through Intact Insurance.
Our first dog, Rocket, was a rescue from Calgary Animal Services. Over 13 wonderful years of making memories together, Rocket taught me the true meaning of “who rescued whom.”
Our next dog, Roxie, was a rescue from AARCS who loved chasing anything, especially bunnies and squirrels. Roxie was a big girl, weighing more than 100 pounds, and she taught me a great deal about dog behaviour and handling a strong-willed dog. Sadly, we lost Roxie suddenly to spleen cancer. I’m grateful for the nine years we shared, filled with mountain trips, sniffing adventures, and plenty of snuggles on the couch.
Our current dog, Rokeby, is another rescue from AARCS. She keeps us busy as she learns about the big world around her during her puppy stage. She loves playing fetch and eating ice cubes.
In my spare time, you can find me playing hockey each week. During the summer, I enjoy climbing mountains and am learning to golf.
